WHAT IS THE DO IT!™ CHALLENGE?

Amber Ivey created this framework based on years of setting personal and professional goals and accomplishing what seemed impossible. In 2012, Amber decreased opposition and increased tactics to help her leave the comfort of her home and career to push forward toward her goals. In the last ten years alone, she has used this framework to:

Personal

  • Earn two additional professional degrees

  • Start a new career path

  • Increase salary by more than 350% (not including side hustles)

  • Secure a significant five-figure contract that was more than her salary out of undergrad

  • Launch three businesses (two still active)

  • Pay off debt

Professional

  • Transform an organization and reduce turnover during her tenure

  • Create a new office in partnership with state executive leaders

  • Help cities transform their data culture and create lasting results

  • Help courts modernize their systems

  • Launch new programs to support public sector leaders across the Americas

  • Conduct and publish first-of-its-kind-research on state data use and management

  • Publish articles on data and court technology transformation

With over ten years of experience leading dynamic teams that transformed systems across private, public, and non-profit sectors, she has dedicated her life to helping make people and processes work better by decreasing opposition and improving tactics to improve outcomes for individuals, communities, and companies.

Amber is currently a Vice President at a non-profit, where she leads a team that helps governments drive impact. Before her current role, she served as the Senior Director for the Bloomberg Center for Government Excellence (GovEx) at Johns Hopkins University. At GovEx, Amber led a team that helped government leaders use data to make decisions through †raining, coaching, and technical assistance. Formerly, she worked at The Pew Charitable Trust—a non-profit focused on solving today's challenges using data-driven, nonpartisan analysis. At Pew, she led first-of-its-kind research on data use in states and managed a team that helped modernize the civil legal system through online legal technology.

Prior to Pew, Amber worked for Maryland StateStat—a performance-measurement and management office created by former Governor Martin O'Malley (D). Following a gubernatorial transition, she also helped to launch the Governor's Office of Performance Improvement under Governor Larry Hogan (R).

Before joining the State of Maryland, Amber was a logistics manager for a Fortune 50 company where she used data to drive efficiency, productivity, and profits. She switched from private to the public sector to use her skills in service of government efficiency. She has her MPA and J.D. and is excited to serve at the intersection of data, technology, public policy, and law.
